Dear Réaders,

My name is Mirren Gordon-Crozier, and I am a Costume Designer who loves the history of both fashion and fashion in film.

In Accent Aigu (Á La Mode), you’ll find a wellspring of inspiration (and some historical notes if you care to read them).

I share the best looks from some of my favorite movies, and find contemporary pieces that you can buy today.

Here are some of my first posts:

  • THE RIPLEY EFFECT: Costumes and inspired outfits from Purple Noon (1960 take on Ripley), The Talented Mr. Ripley ( 1999), and the new Netflix series Ripley, which I highly recommend.

  • MAD FOR FASHION: A close look at Edie Beale in “ Grey Gardens,” Norma Desmond in “ Sunset Boulevard,” and Margot Channing in “ All About Eve.”

  • REBEL LOVE ( Part 1 ): This week's subject "Film meets Fashion" is an exploration of rebellion, escapism, and young love. "Bonnie and Clyde", "Breathless", and "Badlands" are the first movies that take a look at fashionable couples on screen.

Take a look and tell me what you’d like to see.
